What is Raw food?

In brief raw food is food that has not been cooked.

Although true this doesn’t tell us much.  When I first started mentioning and eating more raw food friends and family would immediately think I was living off of sushi and raw meat.

This couldn’t be further from the truth!

The foundations of the ‘raw vegan’ diet are fresh raw fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, seaweeds and sprouts.

It may not sound too exciting to you right not, but by combining some simple raw ingredients with every day spices and a dash of creativity you can transform your vegetables into a nutritious medley that is both appetizing and delicious and most of all with all the nutrients intact.

The main reason we should be eating our food raw is because when food is cooked to high temperatures valuable nutrients are lost and enzymes that are naturally present in food are destroyed diminishing the life force and nutritional value of that food.
